Practise with natives in a social setting!
Our social exchanges focus mainly on the conversational part of the language and provide a great opportunity for people to come together and help each other improve their language skills in a social setting.
We currently organise Spanish & English and French & English exchanges for both intermediate and advanced levels with a good mix of each nationality, so lots of opportunities to practise with natives! If you are unsure which level of exchange is most suitable for you then please see below.
The exchanges are held in quiet, private areas of bars and pubs in Central London where you will be seated in small groups helping to make the atmosphere relaxed, fun and perfect for improving your conversational skills. Topics of discussion and grammar points are provided to assist you and stimulate conversation, though it is not compulsory to use these!
Although our service is primarily for English, Spanish and French native speakers, we welcome other nationalities to come along to an exchange and practise both languages.

Which level are you?

Intermediate level
- You can interact in a simple way and survive basic situations provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
- Your sentences are not always grammatically correct and you mainly use the present tense with some set phrases for the past.
- You feel quite confident talking about familiar and routine topics such as: travel, accommodation, shopping and basic personal and family information.
Advanced level
- You have the ability to hold a decent level of conversation, however, if you don’t have the vocabulary to talk about something, you can think of other words you do know to describe what you want to say.
- You still need to work on fluency and accent.
- You still need to expand vocabulary and get used to using collaquial phrases.
- You are able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
If you are still unsure whether you should attend an intermediate or advanced exchange, please contact us and we will be able to help you.
